We are a group of Petanque players who live in Canberra with a keen interest in playing and promoting this beautiful, relaxing and social French bowling game.
Petanque (pronounced P-Tank) can be played by anybody both male and female, young and old and you do not have to be athletic to play this game well.
Equipment costs are minimal, all you need is three boules (metal balls) and you are ready to play. Petanque is best played on a compacted gravel surface.
The aim of the game is to throw and place your boules as close to a jack (the cochonnet) as possible, and by doing so scoring points. It is as simple as that.
We can provide the boules for the first few times that you come along and play with us.
The Ostyn Gender Doubles is on October 22ndOur monthly FSM pennant competition for September was held on Sunday the 3rd. The weather forecast was not promising and there was a threat of rain, and in the end we only had 11 players competing. It was a family affair for the honours this month with Adele finishing with the highest score for the ladies, and Smitty top-scoring for the men. After ten months of competition the overall leaders of our FSM competition remain unchanged. Catherine is on top for the ladies and Robyn is in second place, and for the men Sebastian continues to hold the lead and Mark C is in second place. The next and final round of our FSM competition for 2016/17 will be held on Sunday 1st of October.
